Support on narrowing development gap among nations through Resource – Needs Matching Mechanism: JICA dispatched of Study Mission on Improvement of Buffalo Breeding in Myanmar to the Philippines

JICA Myanmar Office dispatched a five-member Study Mission led by Prof. Dr. Myint Thein, Director General of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries to the Philippines from 3 to 7 October 2010.

 The purpose of the visit is to develop training modules for Myanmar participants in the field of buffalo farm management and breeding technology. The mission visited Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) in Munos, National Gene Pool and Marketing Center at the Central Luzon State University.

 The Mission obtained consensus with PCC for development of details training modules and suitable schedule for Myanmar participants in FY 2011 and FY 2012 thorough discussion and observation. The proper arrangement of JICA Philippine Office and, friendly and concerted efforts of PCC are the key factors for success of the study trip.

 It is believed that creating opportunities for sharing technical resources within a region will definitely strengthen cooperation and collaboration among the nations in a region for promotion of South-South Cooperation.
